Embolization or depletion of the tracheids lumens have been elaborated over the course of evolution that indicates its usefulness and the need for the ontogeny of plants. Why do biologists are looking for opportunities to overcome this phenomenon, for 20 years? Maybe in the xylem vulnerability curves are hidden vulnerability of C-T-theory as well as the scientific paradigms about the continuous column of water in the cells lumens. It is wonder why do the very complex designs as secondary walls and pit pairs perform so simple functions? Does anyone know if there is a water movement within the secondary walls really impossible? Are pit pairs an air barrier? In other words, an existing paradigm about the mechanism of water transport in plants which has developed over the last 150 years already inhibits the development both of the plant physiology and of woodworking. I propose to start a discussion regarding the well-known phenomena such as evaporation of water through the pit pairs membranes in the drying process and the stomatal transpiration. While at first glance it might appear that these two issues are unrelated to the problem at hand. But let’s try.
